Official start of the Study Trip in The Netherlands
The trip in the Netherlands officially started yesterday in The Hague! We look back at an exciting weekend with a visit to the Zaanse Schans, building towers of spaghetti and marshmallows and discovering The Hague through the Entrepreneurial Game. Monday morning, the Dutch and Ghanaian participants gathered at the Rijksdienst voor Ondernemend Nederland in The Hague to prepare themselves for the company visit of today.
The opening of the study trip started with two inspiring keynotes. First Rosalind Boschloo talked about the four ways of how the Dutch government can help promoting Ghanaian business and how the New Business Challenge is one of them. The next keynote speaker was Doris Brese from the Ghanaian Embassy in the Hague. By sharing her story and her experience with (starting a) business, she immediately got everyone’s attention. “How can we get in touch with the Dutch and Ghanaian embassy if we want to know more?” was one of the questions asked after the presentation. Practical tips and advices by both Rosalind and Doris followed.
After the key notes it was time to announce the winners of the Entrepreneurial Game. Great pictures of the Ghanaians eating Dutch “haring”, the NBC logo made of chalk on the pavement and lots of Dutch songs and Ghanaian dances followed. Not only were we quite impressed by the dance moves of the teams, they also made everyone laugh!
After the winning team received their little gift, it was time for two workshops to fully prepare the participants for the company visit of today. The workshops were all about problem analyses and active listening and helped the teams to analyze the main question and find the main problem underneath it.
In the afternoon, teams worked together to analyze the main problem of the business case they will work on for the next couple of weeks. By the end of the day all teams created a list of questions to ask to their companies representative. We wish all the teams good luck today and of course enjoy the Dutch scenery while taking the train to Eindhoven, Rotterdam, Veenendaal and all other places where the companies are located.
