Studytrip GH: A smashing Final!
This year, the new business challenge was represented by cases in the transport and logistics, agriculture, eco-tourism and technology and education consultancy sectors. Once again twenty Dutch Students and twenty Ghanaian students came together in teams of four and worked to give innovative solutions to the participating companies; Jolinaiko Eco Tours, Delphy & Agri-Impact Consult, MDF West Africa & Skill Ed, Van Den Bosch and Friss.
After a rigorous selection process, preparation workshop, a successful study trip to the Netherlands where the students got to meet their teammates, visit companies in the Netherlands, build teamspirit and team work and experience the Dutch culture and way of life and doing business, the students finally met again in Ghana for the final part of the program. The Ghana study trip was great as the Ghanaian also got the chance to show their teammates around the country, the culture and way of life and doing business. The students also visited the implementation companies and their work field, studied customers and company operations, embarked on a lot of research in the market and come up with innovative solutions to the cases. They were engaging and entrepreneurial in their thinking, whiles allowing the coaches and company representatives to guide them on the way. Work was one part of the trip but fun, food, games and internal travel was part of the package.
NBC 2018 FINALE: Green Eye CO2 of Jolinaiko Eco Tours steals the show!
During the finals of the NBC and the teams presented their solutions to the business cases during the day. The Acting Ambassador Ms Caecilia Wijgers welcomed over 200 hundred people at the Dutch Ambassadors residence including the Minister for Business Development, Hon. Dr Ibrahim Awal who spoke on the Ghana-Holland relations that have span over the years. The message from our two high officials rested on the fact that young people need to see the enormous opportunities available through the good relations between Ghana and the Netherlands and take advantage of the opportunities to help develop the two nations.
The jury deliberated on the presentations by the teams for hours and although all the teams had presented amazing solutions after weeks of brainstorming, analysis and evaluations, hard work, teamwork, and collaborations, the jury with professional eye and practical experience announced the Green Eye CO2 team of Jolinaiko Eco Tours as the winner upon presenting a very feasible, innovative, realistic and sustainable eco solution to reducing the environmental footprint of Jolinaiko Eco Tours as a means to help tackle climate change. The event was well attended by officials from governments, GNBCC membership, partnering schools and companies.
A big congratulations to the winning team Green Eye CO2 (Janet Fuah, Paula de Beer, Wisdom Kpegba and Pieter Witteveen) and to all teams for the great work and an amazing NBC journey!
